Top 5 Short Term Healthcare Providers

If you are in between policies or in a bind for healthcare over a short term period, it can often be difficult to acquire care that is affordable and suitable for your needs. Enormous companies have been shifting codes, and you may not be comfortable with a large deductible or long term payment belief. As the name suggests, short term medical insurance are plans that last over a short amount of time. This type of care is becoming very popular with first time independents like college students and others who are looking for intermediate solutions. Unlike standard healthcare plans, these short plans always have an expiration date, so you can move on if you are not glad with the acceptance rate or performance of the conception. This can also be a good way to evaluate a company before making a long term decision.

Here are the top five short term healthcare providers, as rated by their members and independent evaluations.

  1. United Health One can get you covered fast and is among the fastest growing short term insurance companies. Online at http://www.goldenrule.com/ you can view the options for short term coverage and resolve which serves your needs. Looking at the Platform Part 2 McCain

Now, it’s time to gaze at McCain’s ideas. Remember, I am a conservative, so I’ll probably agree with more of McCain’s ideas.

For John McCain, I deleted his explanation and just put in my comments. Concept the entire paragraphs at his website. Again the quotes are from the website and everything else is my comment.

“Making Health Insurance Innovative, Portable and Affordable

John McCain Will Reform Health Care Making It Easier For Individuals And Families To Obtain Insurance.”

McCain wants to use competition and eliminate state lines for health coverage. This is going to tick (I changed to tick at the last microscopic) off some state insurance commissioners. Insurance is governed by the state. They do need to create universal policies, as they did with Medicare supplements. This is a lot of work and I’m not sure it can be done.

“John McCain Will Reform The Tax Code To Offer More Choices Beyond Employer-Based Health Insurance Coverage.”

Here, you settle your plan and the government pays the premium to the company. This makes sense, because if they sent the money to all individuals to pay their plan, you all know someone’s not going to do it. This section is what the commercial Obama runs that says, “and the money goes to the insurance companies.” (This is said in an ominous voice.) Of course it does, it pays the premiums. You can also choose your employers plan. It also allows for those that are frugal and don’t use all the money, to have it put in a Health Savings Account.

“John McCain Proposes Making Insurance More Portable.”

This is not just Cobra or coverage for preexisting conditions, but the ability to keep the insurance even if you retire early or become a stay at home parent.

“John McCain Will Assist And Expand The Benefits Of Health Savings Accounts (HSA) For Families.”

A Health Savings Account is like an IRA for medical costs. The money is yours and it goes to your children. It combines with a high deductible and if the money isn’t needed, you can get a higher deductible the next year. The cost of the catastrophic plan (the high deductible insurance) is coarse and much of the premium goes into the Health Savings Record. This plan has been around a while be he’s expanding it and I’VE ALWAYS LOVE THE PLAN! It’s super trim and puts the consumer in charge of his medical expenses.

“Health Care Costs.”

This section is rhetoric and of no value.

“CHEAPER DRUGS: Lowering Drug Prices.”

I hadn’t read the entire plan prior but am doing it as I write the article. I’m jubilant to see that this is also in McCain’s plan, just as it was in Obama’s.

“CHRONIC DISEASE: Providing Quality, Cheaper Care For Chronic Disease.”

Okay, I made fun of something like this on Obama’s plan but McCain went on to explain that emphasis would be placed on early prevention, and building up the health care industry by focusing on preventive medicine. John isn’t planning on sitting by anyone’s bedside either.

“COORDINATED CARE: Promoting Coordinated Care.”

I had to use McCain’s own words for this. For anyone that has ever had any treatment of any kind from a hospital, this is heaven sent. I drove myself in to the emergency room when my heart raced over 250 bpm. The doctor slapped an ice pack on my neck and it cost me $3000, I think. I kept getting so many bills and there really weren’t that many people that saw me. If you’ve ever found yourself wondering what the heck you’re paying for, this should be your highlight. Here’s the direct quote.

“We should pay a single bill for high-quality disease care which will make every single provider accountable and responsive to the patients’ needs. “

ONE bill!!! It’s about time.

“GREATER ACCESS AND CONVENIENCE”

Government promoted walk-in clinics in retail outlets.

“INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY”

Use more Internet services, which allow doctors to cross state lines to practice.

“MEDICAID AND MEDICARE”

McCain’s beget words

“We must reform the payment systems in Medicaid and Medicare to compensate providers for diagnosis, prevention and care coordination. Medicaid and Medicare should not pay for preventable medical errors or mismanagement.”

“SMOKING”

Offer free smoking terminate programs. (Yeah, like I’m going to take him up on it)

“STATE FLEXIBILITY: Encouraging States To Lower Costs”

This gives the states the right to accept alternative ways to insure members under Medicaid.

“TORT REFORM”

Again, I’ll use McCain’s words.

“Passing Medical Liability Reform. We must pass medical liability reform that eliminates lawsuits directed at doctors who follow clinical guidelines and adhere to safety protocols. Every patient should have access to legal remedies in cases of bad medical practice but that should not be an invitation to endless, frivolous lawsuits.”

“TRANSPARENCY”

Give the patient more information. If you go to a good doctor, you already should have this. If you don’t, find another doctor.

“Confronting the Long-Term Challenge

John McCain Will Develop A Strategy For Meeting The Challenge Of A Population Needing Greater Long-Term Care.”

McCain opened the subject but had nothing definitive. He wants to find alternatives to the system before its too late. Babes and younguns’ we baby boomers are soon to be a tremendous group of senile citizens. Daily, I question whether I’ve crossed the line yet. I’m disappointed there was no firm concept, but glad at least it was mentioned.

Stop at the candidate’s websites and see what the platforms are yourself. This is my interpretation. You need to read and decide it for yourself.

Demystifying Life Insurance

While life insurance can definitely be an important tool in financial planning, the fact is many people do not understand what part it plays. Many people who should acquire life insurance do not and many who do not need life insurance have it. The purpose of this article is to explain the role life insurance plays in personal financial planning and to help you understand whether you need it or whether owning it is an unnecessary expense.

A very simple way to grasp the concept behind life insurance is to think of it as “income replacement” insurance. In other words, if you have a family who depends on your earnings, you should have adequate life insurance to continue providing for them in the event of premature death. A grand example is a young married couple with small children. If your family would be hard pressed to acquire their standard of living should you die prematurely then life insurance is certainly a necessary piece of wise financial planning.

Many people who should own life insurance do not simply because none of us really like thinking about our own mortality and so procrastinate. This is the primary reason that people who should have life insurance don’t. It is rarely the case that they don’t have it because they can’t afford the expense. Hopefully we will all live a full life but unfortunately that doesn’t always have true. One of the best things you can do to guard your family and their standard of living is to purchase adequate life insurance. The question isn’t whether you need life insurance, but how much.

Figuring out how remarkable life insurance you need is actually a very simple matter. The last thing your family would need in the event of your premature death is being left with a large debt load. So first, you should judge how much would be needed to pay off all of the family debts. Next take into consideration the annual income your family would need to maintain their modern standard of living. We will use the sum of $50,000. While according to Morningstar, Inc. the average return on substantial company stocks (as measured by the S&P 500 Index) from 1926 to 2008 was 9.6%, your surviving spouse would need to invest the proceeds from your life insurance policy very conservatively to guard against loss of primary, so to be conservative let’s use a figure of 8 percent annual return which is relatively easy to achieve with low risk. To generate $50,000 of income at 8 percent would require $625,000 (P x R x T; 625,000 x .08 x 1= 50,000). Based on figures from MSN Money, the average American family owes about $8,000 on credit cards and carries an average mortgage balance of $69,277 for a total of $77,227 in debt. So for our purposes we will use this figure and add it to the $625,000 figure calculated previously which indicates that as a minimum you should have about $700,000 in life insurance if your debt situation is around the average and you wish to provide your family with $50,000 a year in income. Both spouses frequently work today so this advice is applicable to both when both work and contribute a paycheck to the family finances.

The monthly premiums for life insurance vary based on a number of different factors life age, health, sex, term, type of insurance, etc. But to illustrate the relatively low cost of insuring your family’s future, the Met Life web site advertises a $500,000 10-Year Level Term policy for as low as $20 per month for a 30 year old male and $17 per month for a 30 year ancient female. This brings up the point that life insurance companies offer a variety of different types of life insurance products: term life, whole life, universal life. Whole life and variable life policies have an “investment” component while term life pays off only in the event of the death of the insured. Term life is the kind of life insurance that should be selected to provide income replacement for your family. There are much better places for investing money than through an insurance policy. Life insurance should only be a temporary means of assuring financial security for your family until you have the time to acquire sufficient assets so that your estate will be large enough so that life insurance is no longer necessary. Term fits this criteria perfectly and can be canceled without penalty whenever you no longer need it.

Now let’s turn our attention to those who do not need life insurance no matter what your insurance salesperson might have told you. First, children should never have life insurance purchased for them. Children are not wage earners and no one is dependent upon them for support. Positive we care for them but in a strictly financial sense the fact is children are not assets but liabilities and so they don’t need to be insured. Most singles do not need life insurance. Without a family no one is dependent upon them for financial assist and frequently singles have sufficient assets to satisfy the debts that would be left behind in the event of premature death. The insurance industry often has all kinds of “good” reasons why singles should capture life insurance policies but none of them hold water when given serious consideration. Paying monthly premiums for life insurance you don’t really need makes about as much sense as paying car insurance premiums when you don’t own a car.

Hopefully you have now joined the ranks of the informed when it comes to life insurance and are ready to make informed decisions about whether you should have it and if so, in what amounts.

The United States as a Christian Nation

Many claim the United States was founded as a Christian nation. While many of our founders claimed to be Christians and/or were enthusiastic in a Christian church in some fabricate, the nation officially did not espouse Christianity nor did it establish a location church as many other countries did.

Indeed, if one thinks of a Christian nation as being one that exemplifies Jesus’ teachings on love even for one’s enemies, treating all persons fairly, etc., it can certainly be demonstrated that this country’s founding (and history) did not indicate Christian values.

Our nation was founded by stealing the land of the Native Americans, often killing or enslaving them while abusing or destroying their property, in addition to fighting a war against the British for independence. And African-Americans were weak as slaves in the southern states during most of the first century of the country’s existence. Women lacked the right to vote and were in some ways treated as second class citizens for the majority of our country’s history.

Furthermore, since its founding the United States has fought in numerous wars and facilitated the marketing of harmful products through false and misleading advertising worldwide. Alcoholic beverages, gambling, junk food, military weaponry, pornography, and tobacco are some of the things that are sold/marketed widely worldwide from United States points of origination via false and misleading advertising.

Progressing Toward Christian Values

While I advocate freedom of religion for all, I do support the United States progressing closer toward exhibiting the Christian values that many claim the country already has.

For one thing, this country can do a much better job of empathizing and sympathizing with other nations in areas where we disagree. Let’s devote more resources to humanitarian aid and negotiations, and less toward military weaponry and wars.

Also, our country needs to do a great better job of stopping false and misleading advertising both in this country and internationally. If U.S. tobacco companies cannot advertise tobacco on certain forms of United States media, ought they be able to advertise in other countries using similar methods? And why not do a better job of reducing the false and misleading advertising for numerous other harmful products?

Furthermore, I think Jesus would support some type of universal health care concept for all. Yet this country has millions who lack basic health care insurance coverage.

Far too many of us are sinners who seek to preserve on sinning. Perhaps even worse, we are in some ways self-righteous hypocrites who condemn the sins of others while ignoring our own. Although I don’t desire to keep on sinning or to be a self-righteous hypocrite, there are certainly times where I have erred by sinning when I knew better and spoken or acted too self righteously in a hypocritical way. You and I can do better than we have done thus far. And regardless of anyone’s formal religious faith (or lack thereof), there are certainly some basic moral values that we need to learn and adhere to (compassion, honesty, respect for life, truthfulness, etc.).

Yes, the United States and the world will be a better place if the most influential country on Earth really does become a “Christian nation” in the good sense of the term. Let’s seek to follow the golden rule of treating others as we desire to be treated and to “be good and do good” to quote/paraphrase words of Buddha from centuries ago. In essence this seems to summarize Jesus’ basic teachings and illustrate what being Christlike, a Christian, is all about.

We need not have a position church or even be formally baptized into a Christian church in order to establish a nation that follows the good teachings of Jesus and other big spiritual leaders. But to follow these quality teachings will require commitment and discipline. Please forgive me for espousing my own Christian values: I think prayer and sincere faith in a higher power are keys. However, I am confident there are many who lack faith that still seek to follow “God’s law” – often more successfully than typical professing Christians. And after all, isn’t seeking and obeying profitable guidance what Christianity and other great religions are basically about?

Our country has progressed far over 200 + years, passing laws to eliminate slavery, granting women more equal rights, establishing many humanitarian aid programs, and becoming more tolerant toward positive minority groups. But we remain far too materialistic, self centered, and prone to fight wars against other nations.

We collected have far to go. May we please progress further along the path to righteous, “Christian” living?
